East 36th Street Improvement Project

The City of Lorain has worked with neighborhood groups, regional and state transportation agencies, and local leaders to understand the needs of the underserved area of South Lorain and has identified the E. 36th Street Improvements as a pivotal project to continue the transformation of this distressed neighborhood designated as both an Area of Persistent Poverty and a Historically Disadvantaged Community. The City is seeking $1,500,000 in planning grant funds to design approximately 3.3 miles of new and improved roadway, multi-use path, and green infrastructure. This project will provide the underserved population of South Lorain with a re-imagined E. 36th Street that will become a catalyst for future economic, health, and environmental transformation within the neighborhood. The project will create critical, safe, and environmentally conscious access from the City's south side to the business district and schools located on the City's west side.
