Mission Statement

The mission of the Lorain Utilities Department is to serve the needs of our customers by providing drinking water of the highest quality and wastewater collection and treatment in an efficient and safe manner."

Purpose

• Billing: Processes payments for water and sewer bills as well as providing customer        service and information about the Utilities Department.
• Water Distribution: Maintain water distribution system that transports safe potable water to the residents of the City of Lorain and parts of surrounding communities.
• Environmental Management: Regulate industrial facilities and monitor sanitary sewer overflows.
• Meter: Reads, installs, inspects, and maintains water meters throughout the City of Lorain.
  
• Water Purification: Produce clean, healthy, and safe potable water from Lake Erie.
• Sewer Collection: Clean, inspect, repair and maintain the City's storm and sanitary sewer systems.
• Wastewater Treatment: Efficiently and effectively treat raw wastewater before being discharged back into Lake Erie.
