Safety Town

Safety Town is an educational program designed to teach young children essential safety skills in an age-appropriate setting.

The program focuses on:

  •  Traffic and pedestrian safety
  •  Stranger awareness
  •  Personal safety concepts

Safety Town is typically offered during scheduled sessions and is intended for young children.

Ride-Along Program

The Ride-Along Program allows residents to observe police operations by accompanying an officer during a scheduled shift.

Before signing up, please confirm you:

  • Have valid photo ID
  • Understand approval and a background check are required.
  • Agree to act as an observer only and follow all instructions
  • Will not record, photograph, or carry weapons
  • Accept the risks and liability waiver

This program provides insight into daily police operations and decision-making.

Police Auxiliary Program

The Police Auxiliary Program is made up of trained volunteers who assist the Lorain Police Department in a non-enforcement role.

Auxiliary members may assist with:

  • Community events
  • Traffic control for special events
  •  Public safety support activities

Participation requires department approval and training. This program supports both department operations and community engagement.
