Eileen joins Lorain City Council to serve her first term as the Fourth Ward Councilwoman.
Eileen Torres is a Clearview High Schol and University of Colorado graduate. She absorbed much about politics and elected office living in Washington, DC for 28 years. In 2016 she returned to Lorain and immediately began exploring organizations, attending meetings, and volunteering. She is Treasurer of the Community Foundation of Lorain County, is immediate past president of the Hispanic Fund, current Roberto Ocasio Foundation Trustee, and member of the Lorain Palace Advisory Board. She serves on numerous committees of non-profit and civic organizations, and is involved in strengthening Lorain County. Her goal is to assist in Lorain’s emergence as an affluent community filled with promise, opportunity and options.
Her background includes a two-year stint with the National Chicano Dance Theater based in Denver, Colorado, teaching at the Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, and serving as Conference and Special Events Director at the National Council of La Raza-now Unidos US
Eileen designed and directed dozens of special events that took place at The Kennedy Center various Smithsonian Museums, National Geographic, and Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Eileen is an accomplished public speaker and has delivered multimedia presentations on over 500 occasions to federal agencies, colleges and universities, and many civic organizations. She is a recognized salsa music historian contracted by Starbuck’s to write the liner notes and assist in music selection for their Mambo Mio CD.
Eileen’s involvement in film production led to an Associate Producer credit for the short film titled MANO. She is an Executive Producer of SHINE, a full-length feature film that premiered in Lorain October of 2018. The film was nominated for best choreography. She is currently part of a team working on the documentary, QUEENS OF TEQUILA.
Eileen is a graduate of Leadership Lorain County, National Hispana Leadership Institute, and the Center for Creative Leadership.
