Fair Housing Documents

Goals

The City of Lorain’s Department of Building, Housing and Planning’s Fair Housing Administrator is tasked with promoting economic opportunities by eliminating housing discrimination and promoting diverse, inclusive neighborhoods throughout the city. Federal, state, and city fair housing laws protect people from discrimination based on race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, ethnic group, Vietnam-era or Disabled Veteran Status, Familial Status, Marital Status, and Ancestry.

Regulations

Housing providers and lenders who are recipients of U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding or have loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) may be subject to HUD and City of Lorain regulations to ensure equal access to all.

Filing a Complaint  

To file a Fair Housing Complaint, the resident must complete the Fair Housing Complaint Form, and email the completed form to the Program Manager of Housing, Edwin Garcia at 440-204-2303 or garcia@cityoflorain.org.  

Alternatively, the resident may drop off or mail the completed form to:
