ATTENTION UTILITY CUSTOMERS

We appreciate your patience.  We are experiencing delays due to our computer conversion.  You may be experiencing problems getting through to our office as the call volume has been high with customers looking for their bills, and having problems making payments.

Bills have not yet been mailed, but we are hoping to have them processed today or tomorrow (March 7 -8).  The payment due date will be extended through end of business at 4:00 pm on March 24.  No penalties will be accessed until after that date.  If further delays occur, we will extend this further. 

In addition, those trying to make payments online or over the phone may have experienced errors.  This is due to the fact that the customer number has changed during the conversion.  Your new number still has the same eight digit account number, but it will be followed by a three digit “customer number”.  Example 20198689-002.  The first eight digits are the account number, the last three are the “customer number.”  This “customer number” is not available on your old bills.  Most will be -001.  You can call the office to get the correct number to use or you can try 001.  We apologize for any problems you may have reaching us due to the high call volume.

Bills must be paid in full by the 17th of each month in order to avoid a penalty

You can now go paperless by receiving your monthly utility bill via email. Please call 440-204-2500 (Option 3). 

Pay Your Utility Bill OnlineThere are several convenient ways to pay your City of Lorain utility bill. Pay online or by the touch-tone phone system between the hours of 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM. Try them today! 
 

The City of Lorain Utilities Department is putting into place a new policy involving payments made online (IWR) or by phone (IVR).   There will now be a limit of five transactions per utility account made in a 30 day period.  Also, there will be a minimum payment of $5.00.  Any variances outside these parameters will cause the payer to be charged  $5.00 for each and every violation.

DROP IT OFF 
City of Lorain utility payments can be deposited in the drop box located at the front of the Lorain Utilities Department, located at 1106 W. 1st St.

 

AUTOMATIC PAYMENT 
Pay your City of Lorain utility bill the easy way with AutoPay. You won't need to write out a check each month. Instead you can authorize the Lorain Utilities Department to handle the transaction through your bank. You will be mailed a copy of your monthly bill, clearly marked AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWAL, so that you will know the exact amount billed. This amount will be deducted from your bank account  on the 12th of each month, or if this is a weekend or holiday, the next business day.
