New Offices Sworn In

 Two new Lorain Police officers were sworn into office on Monday, July 28th by Mayor Chase Ritenaurer.  The Department welcomes Michael Bohaty and Eric Rivera.  Eric is the son of retired Police Sergeant Albert Rivera.  Officer Rivera scored first in his LCCC Police Academy class and Officer Bohaty scored 2nd.   full story
 

Jury Scam

 JURY SCAM WARNING    -   The Lorain County Sheriff's Office and Elyria Police Department have received complaints from citizens regarding phone calls from a party claiming to be from the Lorain County Sheriff's Office.  The caller advises the person that they missed jury duty and that a warrant will be issued unless the party pays for the witness fees, etc.  They are told to put money on a pre-paid debit card and then give the caller the number .  The number given appears to be a Google number.  Judge Elwell's name is being used during this scam. 

$ 500 REWARD - Missing Person Kathleena "Kat" Burke

 The Lorain Police Department is offering a $500 reward for information as to the whereabouts of Kathleena “Kat” Burke, who has been missing for over a month.  Ms. Burke was last seen on or about June 1st, 2014 in the area of W. 25th St. and Broadway Ave.  Ms. Burke is known to frequent the Reid Avenue area.  Anyone having information concerning Kathleena Burke, please contact the Lorain Police Detective Bureau at 204-2105.

In March, Rodriguez was robbed of a brand new mountain bike mere moments after winning it in a school raffle. Rodriguez was heading home on the Henderson Bridge with his new bike when he was approached by a black male who threatened to beat him up if he didn't hand over his new wheels.

The Lorain Lighthouse Foundation is sponsoring tours of the Historic Lorain Lighthouse. Tickets are $20 each, tickets can be purchased by calling the Lorain Port Authority at 440-204-2269, the Port Authority website:  www.lorainportauthority.com  or the day of the tours at Black River Landing.  The tour boat departs Black River Landing every 30 minutes.  No children under 12.  full story
