 Women's Classes added to all Races!

At the request of many participants, the committee has added a Women's Class to each of the scheduled races. Also new is a Mixed Canoe Class.

The fifth annual Black River Kayak-A-Thon will be held on August 8, 2015. This year's event will include competitive races as well as a casual float for those who want to take their time and view the restoration projects. Registration for the races and the casual float will open at 8:00AM at the Black River Wharf. This event is being held to encourage recreation on the Black River, to celebrate the restoration efforts that are underway along the river, and to highlight water quality efforts that are improving the water quality of the Black River. Representatives from the project team will be on hand to provide you with more information about the Black River restoration effort and to answer any questions you may have.

  • Pre-register by June 5, 2015, and receive a FREE t-shirt! Pre-register by emailing your completed registration form and t-shirt size to Registration fees must be submitted the morning of the event.  
  • Registration materials (form, waiver, and fee) must be submitted by all participants the morning of the event.
  • Registration fees are $25 for competitive races.
  • Registration fees for casual float are $10/Adult and $5/Child.
  • Make checks payable to The Black River Kayak-A-Thon.

  • T-Shirts will be available for purchase for $15.

Competitive Races (Launching at the Black River Wharf):

  • 13-Mile Long Race (2 Classes)
  • 6-Mile Short Race (4 Classes)
  • NEW!! 3 & 6 Mile Paddleboard Race
  • Prizes to the Top 3 places
  • Prizes awarded at the Black River Wharf following the races.
  • Complimentary Safety Whistle
  • Women's Only Classes for each scheduled race
  • Mixed Canoe Class

Casual Float (Launching at the French Creek Put-In):

  • 4-Mile course
  • Four stops along course to collect "Tokens" for Prizes
  • Prizes awarded at the Black River Wharf following the Float.
  • Complimentary Safety Whistle
  • Complimentary entry to the International Festival

Tickets may be purchased by all: $1/ticket, 6 tickets for $5, 15 tickets for $10, or 20 tickets for $15.
All participants will automatically receive one entry.
Must be present to win.
