You're Invite to the Lorain County Lakefront Connectivity Plan Meetings

Avon Lake and Lorain Prepare to Host the Next Round of Lakefront Connectivity Meetings (Lorain County, Ohio) One of Lorain County’s greatest assets is its 23 miles of Lake Erie shoreline. The Lorain County Board of Commissioners have partnered with the Lorain County Metro Parks and the four lakefront communities of Avon Lake, Lorain, Sheffield Lake, and Vermilion to develop the Lorain County Lakefront Connectivity Plan. At 6:00 p.m. on July 27th, the next Lakefront Connectivity feedback meeting will be held in the new Lorain High School, 2600 Ashland Avenue, Lorain. Participants will enter the building at the Athletic entrance which is on the west side of the building. Following the meeting, participants can tour this new, innovative, high school with a representative from Lorain Schools. At 6:00 p.m. on August 2nd, a Lakefront Connectivity feedback meeting will be held in Avon Lake at The Lake House, 32756 Lake Road. Participants will have an opportunity to provide input on various types of multi model transportation choices they would like to see implemented in their community. In addition, economic redevelopment plans in each of the four lakefront communities will be discussed. The Lorain County Board of Commissioners encourage Lorain County residents to attend the meetings and participate in the planning process. The Lorain County Lakefront Connectivity partnership has hired the Environmental Design Group (EDG) to develop the Lakefront Connectivity plan using a grant received from the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency’s (NOACA) Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative. Goals for this plan include: • Increase Economic Activities along the Lakefront Communities and Lorain County • Improve the health of residents, employees and visitors to the area • Connect non-lakefront communities in Lorain County to the waterfront • Minimize the environmental impacts associated with various forms of transportation and development • Reduce air pollution caused by vehicle traffic and reducing water pollution in Lake Erie caused by storm water runoff For further information contact Lorain County Commissioner, Matt Lundy at 440-329-5301.
