Columbia Gas of Ohio will be surveying their gas lines and facilities in parts of Lorain throughout the month of June. Columbia Gas crews will capture the location of underground infrastructure using GPS equipment to create a more accurate picture of our gas delivery system. This investment in safety will also improve our emergency response and maintenance.
This process involves:
• Using a GPS receiver to record the location of gas facilities, including house meters.
• Tracing gas lines along the street and up to customer homes.
• Placing a door tag on homes to notify customers and residents of the work in their community.
All GPS technicians will carry a Columbia Gas of Ohio ID badge. Residents may call their municipality looking for more information on this project. Here is a brief YouTube video of the process:
