- Review all plot plans to make sure all set backs are met and that the proper zoning is in place.
- Serve as Secretary for the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.
- Attend meetings in regards to proposed sub-divisions, shopping districts, industrial parks, etc.
- Keep Mayor, Safety/Service Director, and Building Commissioner abreast of up coming issues and proposals being forwarded to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
- Keep official zoning map up-to-date.
- Answer all calls related to zoning.
- Review all lot splits.
- Advise co-workers as to zoning situations.

- Provide heating, ventilating and air conditioning inspections on all commercial and residential work being performed within the City Of Lorain

- Provide general property inspections on residential One and Two Family rental units, as required by City Ordinance 126-97
- Enforce the International Property Maintenance Code as required by City Ordinance 30-96

Responsibilities:
- Performs skilled inspection work in securing compliance with City ordinances and regulations governing the installation and operation of electrical systems and equipment
- Assists in the supervision of traffic signal and fire alarm systems; does related work if required. Work is subject to periodic review and inspection of the City Electrician.
- Check plans and workmanship to see that electrical work complies with ordinances and regulations and recommends methods for improvement
- Works as a supervising journeyman maintenance electrician on traffic signals and fire alarm systems at discretion of Chief City Electrician
