City of Lorain wins Award

Ronald L. Mantini, City of Lorain

The City of Lorain and Auditor Ronald L. Mantini received notice today that they have been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2012. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its financial management staff.

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is prepared by the Lorain City Auditor's office and submitted to the GFOA awards program. The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to ensure that it meets the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. Special thanks is given to Anita J. Harper, Chief Deputy Auditor and Patricia L. Dunnigan, Deputy Auditor, for their extensive work in preparing the CAFR.

A Certificate of Achievement (see attachment) is valid for a period of one year only. Auditor Mantini has now received the Certificate of Achievement for fourteen consecutive years. The City has now received this award for nineteen consecutive years.
