City of Lorain wins Award

The City of Lorain and Auditor Ronald L. Mantini received notice today that they have been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2012. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its financial management staff. full story

Rotary College Scholarships

The Lorain Rotary Club is offering post-secondary scholarships for full-time students whose permanent residence is in the City of Lorain. College students at the sophomore, junior, or senior level are eligible to apply. In addition to financial need, awards are based upon student initiative as evidenced by the student's personal contribution toward college expenses, volunteerism, and extracurricular activities. Academic achievement is of secondary importance. full story

Lorain Rotary Club Announces Guidelines for application to the Rotarian Gerald Prucha Fund

In his will, Rotarian Gerald Prucha graciously provided a bequest to be used by the Rotary Club of Lorain to help the community. Rotarian Prucha designated three specific areas of interest. These area are;
  • Acquire books for the Lorain Library
  • Support capital improvement drives of local publicly supported charities
  • Support local charitable organizations that provide food, clothing, shelter and health care for elderly and youth.
