In observance of Fourth of July, on Friday, July 3, 2015, Lorain City Hall offices will be closed.


July 4th - Come celebrate our Nation's birthday at Black River Landing. To celebrate our nation’s independence, the Lorain Port Authority and Rockin’ on the River will be hosting a fireworks display over Lake Erie on Saturday, July 4th at dusk. Families can gather at Black River Landing which is hosting Rockin' on the River, or many other lakefront locations such as the Spitzer Marina, Riverside Park or Lakeview Park to view the fireworks. full story

Fireworks Safety

The Lorain Police Department and the Lorain Fire Department are joining together to take steps to curb this growing problem. In the past few years the use of illegal fireworks has continued to proliferate in the City of Lorain and it has reached the point where every neighborhood is negatively impacted. The Police Department receives literally hundreds of calls during the two week period preceding the 4th of July; it has become impossible to keep up with. full story

Summer Fun Camp

Join the City of Lorain Parks and Recreation Summer Fun Camp for boys & girls ages 6-10. Three different camps will run the weeks of July 6th thru July 20, 2015. They will be held at different parks each week. Have fun doing arts & crafts, learning to be safe and all about science and nature. The enrollment form is attached. It is first come first serve basis. If you have any questions call the Lorain Parks Dept. at 244-4294 Monday thru Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm. additional information

Lorain's High Grass Abatement Efforts

To all property owners in the City of Lorain, Chapter 557 of the Codified Ordinances requires property owners to maintain their property free of noxious weeds and high grass. full story
