The Department of Building, Housing & Planning ("BHP") has digitized the process for interested individuals and businesses seeking vacant, city-owned land to construct housing, extend their yard(s) , or relocate/expand business.  Lorain's Opportunity Space  http://lorain-oh.opportunityspace.org/#  allows for interested persons to inquire on the location of existing Community Reinvestment Areas (CRA's) for potential tax abatement; available city-owned commercial buildings and land for business relocation/expansion for sale/lease; and  parcels for sale via the City of Lorain's Land Reutilization Program (not to be confused with the County Land Bank). full story

Mayor Chase Ritenauer Leads Walk To Fight No. 1 Killer - Heart Disease

Mayor Chase Ritenauer hosted the city’s first annual “Move with the Mayor Challenge,” on September 1st, a month-long series of walks to raise awareness about heart disease and ways to prevent it. The campaign, a partnership between the City of Lorain and the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention, encourages residents, business owners and anyone else interested to walk with the Mayor for 30 minutes every Thursday from now until World Heart Day, Sept. 29, 2016. The goal is to keep Lorain’s residents walking every day from now on in an effort to fight the No. 1 killer of Lorain citizens - heart disease. Everyone is encouraged to join the Mayor at Station 1 of the walking course on the grounds of Mercy Hospital located at 3700 Kolbe Road in Lorain each Thursday in September at Noon. Mayor Ritenauer looks forward to seeing you there! ABOUT THE NATIONAL FORUM FOR HEART DISEASE & STROKE PREVENTION The National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention brings together the most dynamic and diverse organizations in cardiovascular health, providing a forum and outlet for organizations to amplify their voices.
